HIMangel, MINT by EGBANK, and the German Development Cooperation implemented by GIZ in Egypt are pleased to partner up to launch the “CouchPitch” – an initiative that aims to support entrepreneurs during the time of lockdown.
Due to the economic downturn caused by the COVID-19 pandemic, entrepreneurs experience an uncertainty about the future of their businesses. In the absence of physical gatherings, entrepreneurs need to rely on digital ways to expand their network and scale their businesses. CouchPitch brings together entrepreneurs with angel investors to pitch their startups to secure investments.
“CouchPitch” is an initiative calling for young innovative enterprises seeking funding opportunities from angel investors. Shortlisted startups will be invited to a 10-minute virtual elevator pitch for angel investors.
Eligible enterprises are revenue-generating companies with Egyptian founders which have been in business for a minimum of one year and are comprised of a team of at least 3 people. After the application deadline, startups will be selected to go through a mock session on the 11th of July to train on pitching, which will qualify them to pitch in the CouchPitch Day on the 14th of July.
Andreas Ruepp, Head of Project Access to Financial Services for SMEs, GIZ said, “As we maneuver these uncertain times, it is important to remain focused on our objective to support the development, spread, and uptake of financing instruments targeted at young, growth-oriented enterprises.” He went on to say “Funding is a key component in supporting businesses and we are pleased to be working in collaboration with HIMangel and MINT to connect promising start-ups with committed investors to drive great impact and generate further development.”
Interested entrepreneurs and angels investors are encouraged to apply before the 4th of July through this link.
